Norwich University’s College of Graduate and Continuing Studies is pleased to welcome Dr. Condoleezza Rice, former secretary of state, as the 2014 Residency Conference keynote speaker.

An American political scientist and diplomat, Dr. Rice pioneered a policy of transformational diplomacy and heralded the formation of new global governments based on democratic principles. From her academic achievements to her appointment as the 66th United States Secretary of State, Dr. Rice models the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies’ mission to provide an education emphasizing a global perspective, a strategic mindset, and a commitment to service in preparing students to tackle the leadership challenges of today’s world.

"At Norwich University’s annual residency conference, our online students from around the globe engage in interdisciplinary discourse that further shapes their development as ethical and efficacious leaders," said Bill Clements, dean of the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies. "We are honored to welcome Dr. Rice to be a part of this culminating educational journey, to help share her passion for public service and commitment to positive change as the nation’s diplomat and former Secretary of State."

Dr. Rice will be speaking as part of Norwich University’s Todd Lecture Series, which invites distinguished guests to campus to engage the Norwich academic community in diverse dialogue.

This event will take place on Thursday, June 19, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in Shapiro Field House on the Norwich University campus. The event is free and open to the public; however, tickets are required.

About Dr. Condoleezza Rice

Dr. Condoleezza Rice served as the secretary of state for President George W. Bush from 2005-2009, following her role as the national security advisor from 2001-2005. Throughout her terms, Dr. Rice pioneered a policy of transformational diplomacy and heralded the formation of new global governments based on democratic principles.
