Norwich University’s online College of Graduate and Continuing Studies (CGCS) will host its annual residency conference during the week of June 10, when more than 500 students in nine graduate programs and one bachelor’s degree-completion program will participate in academic activities and conference sessions.

Approximately 560 students will travel to Norwich’s Northfield, Vt., campus from 49 states and Washington, D.C., and six foreign countries to present research projects, engage in academic debate, participate in hands-on leadership activities, fulfill final requirements and graduate.

This year’s theme is “Leadership in Action,” and includes a keynote presentation by retired U.S. Army Gen. Barry McCaffrey. It is part of Norwich’s Todd Lecture Series, which brings distinguished speakers to campus.

McCaffrey’s presentation, “Leadership of Complex Organizations,” will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, in Plumley Armory. It is free and open to the public.

Now serving as a security and terrorism analyst for NBC News, McCaffrey was the most highly decorated four-star general in the U.S. Army upon his retirement, with four combat tours and three Purple Heart medals. He has dedicated his life to the American people through service to corporate, government, academic and non-profit organizations. McCaffrey was America’s drug czar for five years during the Clinton Administration. He now utilizes his expertise as president of his own consulting firm, BR McCaffrey Associates.

Also open to the public are commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 14, in Shapiro Field House. Prominent South Carolinian business leader Richard Wilkerson will be this year’s speaker.
