Norwich University’s College of Graduate and Continuing Studies (CGCS) will host its annual residency conference during the week of June 16, when more than 500 students in nine online graduate programs and one bachelor’s degree completion program will participate in academic activities and conference sessions.

Approximately 530 students will travel to Norwich’s Northfield, Vt., campus from all 50 states and Wash., D.C., and seven countries abroad to present papers or projects, engage in academic debate, participate in hands-on leadership activities, observe faculty presentations, and graduate.

This year’s theme is “Leadership in Action,” and includes a keynote presentation by Dr. Condoleezza Rice, former U.S. secretary of state. Rice’s address will be part of NU’s Todd Lecture Series, which invites distinguished guests to campus to engage the Norwich academic community in diverse dialogue.

Rice served as the secretary of state for President George W. Bush from 2005-2009, following her role as the national security advisor from 2001-2005. Throughout her terms, Rice pioneered a policy of transformational diplomacy and heralded the formation of new global governments based on democratic principles. Rice has proven to be a significant leader during a time of unprecedented and tumultuous world affairs, recognized for her courageous efforts to foster worldwide freedoms for all people.

Rice’s presentation will be held on Thursday, June 19, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in Shapiro Field House on the Norwich campus. The event is free and open to the public; however, tickets are required. To reserve tickets, visit online.norwich.edu/rice.

This year’s residency conference will also feature its inaugural Discover Vermont event, during which more than 30 Vermont businesses will showcase and sell their products on campus. This is an opportunity for students, faculty and guests from around the world to get a sense of what Vermont businesses have to offer.

Norwich University is a nationally recognized leader in online graduate and undergraduate education. In this year's rankings by "U.S. News & World Report," Norwich was named as a top school for its online MBA program, among other disciplines. Norwich also ranks as a best school in the country for cybersecurity, in a recent study by field experts.
