Abstract:

The role of women in today’s international system has increased dramatically in the past decade, and this is visible in most aspects of international workplaces. Nevertheless, even though there is an impressive increase in the participation of women, there is still a rather visible gap between the participation of men when compared to that of women.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is not unfamiliar to such differences in gender acceptances within the workplace, as these differences apply to female expatriate workers across the UAE. Expatriate women in the UAE still face barriers to their development and growth within the organization. Expatriate women do have the ability to play a large role in the UAE workplace, but cultural and workplace barriers also impede progress. This research paper focuses on expatriate women workers in the UAE, and the barriers they face in their workplaces on a daily basis.
