This paper argues that the British mechanized in large part due to the influence of J.F.C Fuller, more so than B.H. Liddell Hart who is frequently attributed with the creation of the mechanized doctrine. It also examines the influences World War I had on British military intellectuals and why some favored and rejected mechanization due to societal and political pressures in addition to military ones.
