Abstract:

When organizations are in the middle of a strategic change event, they face many obstacles during the process. Leaders must create an effective vision because if individuals don't have a shared vision, expectations can get muddied and confusion will ensue. This paper will identify how to create an effective vision statement, the items that need to be part of the statement, and a process for identifying and weighting these items. Works by Black & Gregersen (2012), Fisher (2005), Kotter (1996), and Roepke (2000) will be analyzed.
