Mt. Cuba Planetarium Expansion Project

Author:

Abstract:

The Mt. Cuba Planetarium Expansion project was designed to provide a quality facility with the ability to educate the public about interstellar events and encourage interest in the astronomical sciences. Included in the project is the construction of a multi-use building with a 40-foot-diameter dome to serve as an HD planetarium. A four-story multi-use attached building with a museum and learning center and research facilities will also be constructed. In addition to the engineering aspects of this project, a schedule and budget for design and construction activities are presented. A preliminary design of superstructure and foundation systems is summarized in the structural report. Quantities of materials are tracked throughout the design in order to optimize savings and meet schedule requirements. A project schedule and estimate of project costs is presented as well as a public plan.
