All Norwich master’s degree programs culminate in a weeklong capstone residency in June at our beautiful campus in the Green Mountains of Vermont, and bachelor’s students are welcome but not required to attend. During this transformative week, you will be actively engaged in unique sessions, come face to face with classmates, faculty and Norwich staff and launch the next chapter of your promising future.
As its name implies, residency serves as a capstone experience to your coursework. Depending on your particular program, you will attend interdisciplinary workshops, contribute to formal debates or case studies, present papers or projects, participate in professional development and networking activities, and observe faculty presentations. Residency week concludes with a special academic recognition and graduation ceremony during which you’ll receive your master’s hood and diploma.
The residency experience has evolved over the years to better serve our students and to offer more opportunities for cross-program engagement. However, certain things remain unchanged including time and opportunity to connect with the people with whom you’ve worked closely over the course of your program, programming that is challenging and thought-provoking, and a celebration of all you’ve accomplished at Norwich University. Each program’s required events are unique, and open sessions offer the opportunity for intellectual exchange and networking.
