Explanation of Fees and Charges

  • Books: The total tuition and fees cost doesn't include book charges. Book charges, shipping, and handling costs, and applicable taxes are paid separately.
  • Technology Fee: The technology fee covers the cost of your distance-learning account and 24/7 help desk support for technical issues related to the online learning platform. This fee is non-refundable once the term begins.
  • Library Fee: The library fee covers library support, online databases, and library access fees. This fee is non-refundable once the term begins.
  • Graduation Fee: The $150 graduation fee is a one-time, non-refundable fee that will appear on the student's final bill. The fee covers expenses associated with processing students for graduation; thus, the fee is not dependent on the student’s participation in the commencement ceremony.
  • Audit Charge: A student who audits a course will be charged the equivalent of one credit hour, along with the technology and library fees associated with the course.
  • Thesis Fee: A thesis fee of $1,000 is applicable for students pursuing the thesis option in the diplomacy, military history or history master's programs.
  • Sustaining Fee: A fee of $575 is applicable for coursework extensions, up to a maximum of 90 days, beyond the end date of the student's final course in the program.
  • Master's Portfolio Fee: For the Master of Arts in Diplomacy and Master of Arts in International Relations programs, there is a one-time fee of $50 for students who seek to have their written assignments assessed.
  • Residency Conference: All master's degree candidates are required to attend a Residency Conference on the Norwich University campus in Northfield, VT. Norwich covers the cost of all meals and accommodations on campus, however, transportation costs to and from campus are at the student's responsibility. For travel in the continental United States, expenses have been estimated to cost $400 on average.

All tuitions and fees are subject to change without notice. When changes are made, notifications will be sent to enrolled students as far in advance of the effective date as possible.
